If we were to discuss the Bored Apes collection by using any critical art theory as a framework, then we can remain silent. The collection has nothing to do with art. We can go further, and safely say that the Apes are everything that is wrong with our society, politically. At best, the Bored Apes collection is a successful marketing tool that makes visible a century-old desire to belong. When the political is diluted—or we are discouraged to participate in it—the space where our desire for belonging can be met with identity-forming processes based on common sense migrates to religion and other VIP (yacht) clubs. In this situation, it is the puppeteer that should get all the credits.
